Clifford Odets’ 1937 drama Golden Boy explores the lengths a young man will go to in order to achieve the American Dream—and at what cost. To mark the 75th anniversary of this classic tale, Lincoln Center Theater presents a gorgeous Broadway revival starring Seth Numrich as violin prodigy turned boxer Joe Bonaparte and Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub as his father. Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson went inside the ring at the Belasco Theatre with the colorful cast to capture Numrich (center) and supporting cast members (clockwise from top) Yvonne Strahovski, Danny Mastrogiorgio, Ned Eisenberg, Anthony Crivello, Tony Shalhoub and Danny Burstein. Check out the beautiful sketch then see it come to life in Golden Boy on Broadway.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
